A dessert homage to the 4th
A light dessert of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries on slices of angel food cake with whipped cream. A color-appropriate dish without intention. Happy Fourth of July!
Food, the creation, cultivation, and consumption thereof has been ingrained in me since I was a small child. My earliest memories in this regard are those of my father, a chef, and my grandmother, a fierce Italian lady who preferred her kitchen to the couch. I learned everything I know by smelling, observing, and in some instances, assisting both my grandmother and father. Over the years, my growth has been enhanced by a devotion to supporting localvore culture as often as I can, though the occasional desire for out-of-season fruit and veggies does, I admit, sometimes get the best of me. Aren't we all a work in progress?
